Guitar lessons are recommended for ages 5 and up. For youth ages 5 –8 years old we recommend using a classical guitar, because the nylon strings are easier on the fingers, and the string spacing makes for an easier transition between chords. We also recommend a 3/4 or 1/2 size guitar for students in this age range. The smaller instruments are easier on children's hands, and make for a smooth transition when they are ready for a full-sized instrument.

Our guitar lessons are a wonderful option for your child. Whether they want to play popular songs by Taylor Swift, the Beatles, Disney movies, or AC/DC, we can guide them through the fundamental skills of reading music, improvisation, playing by ear, music theory, and performing. If you are a beginning guitar student, you will likely start by learning basic technique, single notes, then building up to open chords. From there we have many options depending on the students personal goals and interests. Wecan also help with regular guitar maintenance, such as cleaning, guitar intonation, set up of your guitar, and changing a broken string.

Whether you are just picking up guitar for the first time, preparing for high school all-state jazz band, or a college audition, we can help you accomplish your goals. We will assist you in learning your favorite music while gaining the fundamental skills. If you are a more advanced student in need of training in jazz, classical, folk, or difficult rock music, we can certainly help you. If you are a beginner adult guitar student, you will learn the basics of guitar playing while focusing on the music that you enjoy most. As a beginning guitar student, you will start by learning basic technique such as proper hand and body positioning, single notes, then build up to basic chords. From there you can start to learn your favorite songs!
