We offer what we (and others) think is the best guitar for children. But it is true that there are many other options, some costing much less than a Loog. So why Loog? Most guitars for kids are simply cheap, small guitars. And because they have six strings anyway, the neck is still too wide for a child to play comfortably - let alone easily. Plus, cheap guitars tend to be cheaply made. It makes sense to avoid spending a fortune on a beginner's instrument, but by going with really bad quality, chances are your kid won’t feel engaged enough to play.

Can I play ANY song on a 3-string guitar? Yes. In fact, a regular chord in a standard 6-string guitar is usually comprised of no more than 3 notes. Loog Guitars allow you to play real chords and any song. It will not sound as full as if it were played with a high-end, concert guitar, but because of that same reason it provides a more approachable experience; more suitable for kids and beginners.
If I learn to play a Loog Guitar, can I then use those learnings to play a regular 6-string guitar? Yes, playing a Loog is not entirely different from playing a traditional guitar, it is just simpler. Since we use the same first three strings -and tuning- of a six-string guitar, everything you learn on a Loog can later be applied on a standard guitar. The transition is natural and seamless. Likewise, you can buy books or go online to find the chords to your favorite songs, and use those same chord-tabs meant for six-string guitars to play on your Loog. You just need to pay attention to the finger-placement on the first three strings and simply ignore the other ones!

Ways To Teach Kids To Play Guitar

Guitars can vary drastically in price. So you don’t want tolearn all about one brand or model, decide it will be perfect for your kid, and then have sticker shock when you find out the price.
At the very least, set an upper limit for yourself. While it’s not recommended to get the cheapest guitar possible, there are solid acoustic guitars available that won’t break the bank.

As we said above, you should avoid guitars that are on the lowest level, price-wise. Anything under $100 is likely to be poorly made, with materials that won’t hold up. And more importantly, very cheap guitars tend to be difficult to play.
The action on the fretboard, which refers to how hard it is to press your fingers down on the strings, will often be very high in cheap guitars.

So your kid will likely have trouble physically playing the instrument. And that will mean they are much less likely to want tocontinue practicingand playing.
Once you’ve narrowed down your price range, you’ll want to go take a look at specific guitars. While it is possible to order online and buy them without feeling them, it’s always a good idea to inspect the specific instrument you’re buying.
First, ensure that it’s theright size for your child. When you pick up the guitar, make sure it feels solid and not flimsy. Look at all the joints and the seams of the guitar to make sure they look well connected. Look down the fretboard to make sure it doesn’t look twisted.
Guitar For Kids
Try running your hand along the neck of the guitar to feel it there is uniformity and smoothness going along. You don’t want any of the frets (the metal bars along the fretboard) to be sticking out more than the others.
Finally, press down on the strings of the guitar and compare it to other guitars you are considering. If it’s harder to push down, then you’ll want to stay away from that acoustic guitar.
