The solid Mahogany body features a high-grade Flame Maple cap and is finished in a gloss Grey Poly. The carved top and Flame Cap are an iconic pairing, and the double-cutaway provides superior neck access. The first-class appointments don’t stop there, as the Solaris also comes equipped with a tremolo capableof everything from wavering surfy trem, to huge bends, whilst maintaining tuning stability. We install our black Artist Bullbucker pickups in the Solaris, and although it may look basic with just a single Volume and Tone control, do not be deceived by its simplicity. The 5-way switch gives you the ability to split the coils of the Bullbckers in positions 2 and 4, allowing you a massive tonal range with plenty of options for any sound!

High Value for Low $ By: Ben Lane on 10 July 2023 Picked up one of these that had been returned by another customer and could only find two obvious flaws on it thus far; an awful set of strings (believe these are factory and if so... pretty poor) and janky wiring in the pickup selector with the neck and and neck-middle position not engaging in full. Not a huge problem as I paid under retail, mostly use the bridge and can fix the wiring issue easily. Aesthetically, this guitar is clearly aimed at competing with the PRS range (at this price point, it's about 33% the cost of most PRS SE models at full retail) and if so, it does the job. The finish is well done and overall looks more in line with an instrument at a much higher price point. The grey finish is a nice colourway that will appease most players for it's overall neutrality. I was impressed to see decent binding on the neck at this price point and no discernable blemishes. Play-wise, it was set up well from factory and aside from the rotten strings, played well with a decent action. Everything functioned bar the aforementioned issue with the neck pickup but this is easily resolved. Nice use of a 5 way switch to give single coil tones in positions 2 and 4. The Bullbucker pickups seem to be decent jacks of all trades, doing everything fairly well, but not excelling at anything in particular, though I would say it's well suitable for medium to high gain tones. I downtuned it to Drop C and the tuning held well - nice to see locking tuners on a guitar at this price. I'm not a fan of tremolo bridges so I won't be using the trem arm, but have tested it and it worked as it is should for mild flutters and and more adventurous warbles - it's not a Floyd so don't expect divebombs though! I got this for a backup and home-jammer and I think it's more than capable of that. A very good alternative for a PRS if you're on a budget (my main 2 gigging instruments are PRS) and want the feel and look of one without a huge outlay. Even the stock pickups are very good in both single coil and humbucker mode and would suit most players. It doesn't quite have the more refined feel of a US-made PRS but is close to the SE (would still rate the SE's higher) without the price tag.
